Construida a mediados del siglo XV dentro de los l\u00edmites de la hist\u00f3rica ciudad amurallada, la actual Piazza Civica fue originalmente propiedad de la familia De Ferrera, acaudalados comerciantes catalanes. Conocida com\u00fanmente como Casa d'Albis y Palazzo d'Arcayne, en honor a sus posteriores propietarios, fue residencia oficial del gobernador militar de la ciudad. Sin embargo, es m\u00e1s conocido por haber acogido al emperador Carlos V durante su visita de dos d\u00edas a Alguer en octubre de 1541, que formaba parte de su expedici\u00f3n contra Argel.<\/p>\n
El edificio, dise\u00f1ado en estilo arquitect\u00f3nico g\u00f3tico, presenta tres niveles distinguidos por hileras de cuerdas, de las cuales la segunda y la m\u00e1s alta a\u00fan son visibles hoy en d\u00eda.
