Nuraghe Palmavera Alghero

More than 8,000 Nuraghi are scattered across Sardinia. These constructions, which defy the passage of time, are among the most important monuments of ancient megalithic cultures in the western Mediterranean.

Palmavera’s Nuragic Complex fits into this context perfectly, and is one of the most significant and important sites the Nuragic Civilization built on the Island.

The Palmavera Complex is located in a bay called by the Romans the Port of the Nymphs. It is located on the same mountain, and is made up of two towers. They are built from large blocks of limestone, and sandstone. These towers are located at the middle of a pentagonal enclosure wall, which includes three towers: hut, Meeting Hut, and the magnificent Meeting Hut.

The village is spread out all around. It is made up of 50 huts, but the remains of an earlier time when a larger number of houses occupied this wonderful site.

This is a truly excellent, didactic, easy-to-read complex that can give a good idea of the culture of the Bronze Age and the high level of expertise of these highly talented architects.
