The Conjugal Illusion is a comedy written by Éric Assous, French author and playwright known for his works related to human relationships and interpersonal conflicts.
The plot revolves around the complex dynamics of a married couple, Massimo and Giovanna who face the challenges and doubts related to their married life. Through a sincere and fun confession game, both spouses reveal their extra-marital affairs. Massimo had numerous adventures, while Giovanna only had one. Massimo's jealousy towards Giovanna's latest relationship leads to embarrassing and comical situations.
The key element that triggers the story is Massimo's suspicion towards Claudio, a family friend who is invited to the couple's house without knowing the situation. Claudio thus finds himself unaware at the center of attention and his presence creates further tensions and amusing misunderstandings which make the comedy lively and engaging.

The show explores the themes of love, trust, secrets and the complex dynamics that can arise in couple relationships, offering a light but effective and penetrating analysis of the challenges that many couples face in their lives together.
Through comical situations and brilliant dialogues the author stages a reflection on the complexities and illusions that often accompany marriage.
