On Thursday 16 January the writer Piergiorgio Pulixi will be in Alghero to present, in a conversation with Raffaele Sari, his novel “La Donna nel pozzo”, the crime novel with which he has climbed the sales charts in recent months.
An unconventional thriller in which literary genres mix masterfully supported by a fast-paced pace.
The appointment is at 7.00 pm in the Conference Room of the Alghero Foundation in Largo Lo Quarter.
Piergiorgio Pulixi was born in Cagliari in 1982. He is considered one of the greatest exponents of noir at a European level. His novels are published in twelve countries and have received numerous national and international awards, including the Scerbanenco Prize for the best Italian noir in 2019 for The Island of Souls.
The event is one of the previews of Dall'altra parte del mare, the festival organized by the Itinerandia Association with the collaboration of the Cyrano Bookshop and the support of the Sardinia Region, the Alghero Foundation, the Municipality of Alghero and Putifigari.
The Book: A detail. It's always a detail that makes the difference. Cristina Mandas happens to forget her husband's birthday. Whatever you want it to be. Instead, the oversight is the first creak of a life that is about to fall apart. Because at forty years old Cristina is not the teacher, the wife, the mother, esteemed and well-liked by the community of that Sardinian village to which she moved some time ago. Behind the curtain of a common existence, he holds a secret that must remain buried in the depths of a well. And so it was, at least until a detail caught in passing, until that forgetfulness. Someone, however, has noticed that Cristina is no longer the same, that she is on the verge of giving in. Someone remained in the shadows spying on her for years.
Lorenzo Roccaforte was one of Italy's most beloved writers and also won the Premio Strega. Now that success has slipped away due to blank page syndrome, he finds himself having missed the status of “usual asshole”, he who aimed to remain a “venerated master”.
Ermes Calvino has a weighty surname, no relation to the great Italo and a premium season ticket with trouble. Generous, very close to his mother and sister, he is also an unknown talented writer. As different as day and night, Roccaforte and Calvino become the involuntary parties to a diabolical pact: Ermes writes the novels that Lorenzo signs. They call it ghostwriting. The creator of the plan is Arturo Panzirolli, a former convict who in prison had the idea of the century: to become a publisher! Under the direction of Panzirolli, a hopeless Roccaforte returned to the scene as a true crime thriller author and podcaster. Writer and ghostwriter will find themselves in Sardinia to investigate the death of Cristina Mandas and a mysterious crime from thirty years earlier, which shocked the island.
She disappeared because she trusted the wrong people.
